American History and Politics

The United States was originally peopled with Protestants seeking a place to safely practice their religion. There is a strong influence of Protestant Christianity on American culture.

America was founded by immigrants.  They brought with them optimism, a belief in having a second chance and the “American dream” of “rags to riches,” was passed on to their children and continues to be a part of American ideals. The idea of the frontier and the seemingly endless geography also helped to contribute to the individualism of American culture and the ideals of self-reliance and self-determination.
