Director's Message

As director of English Programs for Internationals (EPI) of the University of South Carolina (USC), I am pleased to welcome you to our website. I hope that you will consider studying with us in the land of "beautiful places" and "smiling faces." South Carolina is known for its natural beauty and its warm, caring people. EPI is located in the heart of the graceful, 200-year-old USC campus. USC is a comprehensive university offering more than 350 degree programs and hosting more than 25,000 students. Established in 1979, EPI provides high quality instruction and friendly, personalized services, enabling international students to feel comfortable in their new environment and to succeed in U.S. universities and in their careers. Accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA), EPI is distinguished by its expert teachers, its use of technology, and its adherence to the highest standards in all aspects of the program. Teachers are highly experienced professionals with advanced degrees. In addition to 20 instructional hours per week offered at six proficiency levels, learning opportunities include American Conversation Partners, community activities, and trips to cultural and recreational attractions. EPI students experience American university life in Columbia, a friendly, safe city that welcomes international students into the comfort of Southern hospitality.
